About Us

Our mission is to build and implement community nutrition and food security programs that align with trauma-informed, resilience-focused principles.

We envision communities where everyone can cultivate a healthy relationship with food and their bodies.

History

Leah’s Pantry was founded in 2006 by Adrienne Markworth and named after her daughter. As a California-based nonprofit, Leah’s Pantry is committed to the vision of ensuring that all people are nourished, regardless of socioeconomic status. Our programs and products are designed to ensure all people have access to healthy food and feel competent in preparing easy, nutritious meals for themselves and their families.

We approach our work through a trauma-informed and resilience-focused lens, believing that positive, nourishing food experiences can heal individuals, encourage healthy community norms, promote nutritional security, and support the realignment of broken food systems in low-income communities.

Since our establishment, Leah’s Pantry staff have been fortunate to work alongside a host of talented educators, dedicated partners, and, most importantly, enthusiastic participants from a wide variety of cultural food traditions, personal histories, and living situations.
